Abstract
Background : HIV/AIDS remains a public health issue requiring prevention efforts, particularly among college students. One factor influencing HIV/AIDS prevention behavior is self-efficacy—an individual’s belief in their ability to take preventive actions. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and HIV/AIDS prevention behavior among students at Kuningan University. Methods : This study employed a correlational analytical design with a crosssectional approach. The respondents were students in the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Kuningan University, with a population of 213 individuals. A sample of 139 participants was selected using proportionate random sampling. The research instruments consisted of the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) questionnaire and an HIV/AIDS prevention behavior questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using Spearman’s rank correlation test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results : The results showed that among the 139 respondents, the majority (96 students; 69.1%) had a high level of self-efficacy. Most respondents (111 students; 79.9%) demonstrated good HIV/AIDS prevention behavior. The Spearman Rank correlation test revealed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.509, indicating a statistically significant positive correlation of moderate strength between self-efficacy and HIV/AIDS prevention behavior among students at Kuningan University. Conclution and Recommendation : There was a significant relationship between self-efficacy and HIV/AIDS prevention behavior among students at Kuningan University in 2026 (p-value = 0.000). Higher levels of self-efficacy were associated with better HIV/AIDS prevention behavior. Students are encouraged to strengthen their self-confidence and improve their knowledge in order to consistently practice effective HIV/AIDS prevention behaviors
